Rockwool - Pencoed
The Client
Rockwool UK Ltd was established in 1978 and is the UK's leading manufturer of mineral wool insulation for thermal, fire and acoustic protection.
Rockwool Uk is based in Pencoed near Bridgend in South Wales and currently employs around 400 people. The parent company Rockwool International A/S have their headquarters in Denmark and the group has 22 factories in 14 countries around the world employing more than 7,000 people.
The Pencoed site operates a fleet of twenty five counter balance trucks two Volvo front loaders and a Bobcat. The trucks are on a five year lease from Fork Truck Maintenance in Bridgend.
The Objective
Any system supplied needed to integrate with the existing smartcards used for gaining access to and around the site. A key requirement was the ability to identify who was responsible for causing damage to trucks and infrastructure of buildings.
The Solution
Following meetings with the customer to determine their requirements Davis Derby supplied and fitted their Smartcard Fleet Management system including shock sensing to the full fleet. In the event of a shock above the threshold occuring a blue beacon is activated and the driver has to find a supervisor who inspects the truck before resetting it with an administrator card.
The data is transmitted from the trucks to one of three base stations which then download hourly to a central server.
Using client software on their desktop pc's, nominated managers have access to a comprehensive suite of reports which can be run as required or scheduled to print automatically. The shock lockout report is printed daily to give instant visibility of any incidents and the cds report gives a good overview and identifies any drivers who may require retraining.
