Kawasaki - Plymouth
The Client
Around the world, in virtually every area of construction, marine and manufacturing industry, Kawasaki Precision Machinery is a reliable provider of superlative power and control solutions. This is a result of KPM's many years of experience and the harnessing of the latest in hydraulic and electrohydraulic technology.
The Plymouth site operates a fleet of counter balance trucks and also reach trucks on a five year lease from Still.
The Objective
The requirement was for a system that ensured KPM conformed to legislation by having a total control system that prevented unlicensed personnel from operating a truck.
It was also important to have the ability to identify who the driver resonsible was in the event of damage occuring to the truck or racking.
The Solution
Following meetings with the customer to determine their requirements Davis Derby supplied and fitted their Access Control Plus System with active shock sensing to the full fleet. In the event of a shock above the threshold occuring the driver now has to find a manager who has been assigned a reset card. The manager will inspect the truck and question the driver before resetting the truck.
What The Client Said
Steve Wooding Health & Safety Manager at KPM reports "I am pleased to say that the system is already surpassing our expectations. Going forward we intend to also use the system to analyse the usage and cost of each truck".
